Venus Earrings

$20.00

Channel your individuality with these earrings featuring Venus—hand-painted acrylic with clear coat on 1-inch wood disks—, the second planet from the Sun. Venus, while sometimes called Earth’s “sister planet” given its similar size, mass, and distance from the Sun, has quite a few characteristics that make it stand out from the rest of its solar system family. This planet is the hottest in the solar system with a mean surface temperature of 863 degrees F (462 degrees C). It also rotates in the opposite direction to most other planets. Not only does the Sun rise in the west and set in the east on Venus, but a Venusian day lasts 243 Earth-days, making it the planet with the longest rotation period.

These earrings show Venus as it is seen via false-color ultraviolet (UV) images, with swirling clouds of yellow and beige. Real-color optical images, however, show Venus is very pale yellow, almost like a cue billiard ball. But that wouldn’t make for an interesting pair of earrings, would it?
